Structure of Marine Magnetic Compass:
In addition to the compass bowl, deviation correctors, and compass binnacle that constitute the marine magnetic compass, there are also some structural components and features. To avoid the impact of weather or other temperature factors on the compass, some magnetic compass bowls are designed with two layers: the upper layer holds the compass card and is filled with liquid, while the lower layer also contains a certain amount of liquid but with some empty space. The upper and lower layers are connected by small pipes to allow for adjustment of the compass bowl. Some magnetic compass bowls also have shims at the bottom, in addition to counterweights, as another adjustment measure. These specific structures provide the compass bowl with better temperature stability.
The liquid used in magnetic compasses is typically a mixture of alcohol and distilled water, which fills the compass bowl. The liquid's properties include a low freezing point, ensuring minimal changes in characteristics under normal temperature conditions.
